To measure the hatch success (percentage of turtles that hatched from their eggs) each turtle nest is excavated after all hachlings left naturally to sea. Occasionally some hatchlings are found still alife in the nest. Those turtels are measured and weighed before released to sea. In this case it is a Loggerhead sea turtle's (Caretta caretta) nest.
