Poppy bee (Osmia papaveris or Hoplitis papaveris)
The poppy bee (Osmia papaveris or Hoplitis papaveris) is a solitary wild bee that digs its nest in sandy soil and lines them with pieces of petals from the common poppy (Papaver rhoeas). When a bee emerges after one year, the delicate inner linings remain like housings, sometimes still containing pupae shells.
