Pit-building antlion larva (Euroleon nostras) The ant-lion, builds pits to capture prey. Doodle bug larvae dig funnel-shaped traps into the sand at the bottom of which they lurk for insect prey. These funnels are rebuilt every day: around full Moon the pits are large, during new Moon small; perhaps the higher probability to catch prey during moonlit nights is worth the investment. This is an endogenous lunar rhythm, since it is observable also under continuous darkness in the laboratory. https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/pdf/10.1098/rspb.2012.3088 | Geflecktflüglige Ameisenjungfer (Euroleon nostras)
