Stettin Lagoon, Bay of Szczecin, Germany {Story behind the image: The image of the caterpillar was taken in Stettin Lagoon, Bay of Szczecin, Germany as part of my oak tree project. It is a classic macro shot where I used three flashes. It shows the caterpillar of the Scarce Merveille du Jour (Moma alpium) that belongs to the family of owlet moths (Noctuidae). From June to September, the caterpillar feeds on leaves of the English oak (Quercus robur) where it thus can be easily found. This image highlights the dense hair of this animal and you can see how it lifts its front legs.} | Die Raupe der Seladoneule (Moma alpium) gehört zu den Noctuidae (Eulenfalter). Sie frißt bevorzugt von Juni bis September an den Blättern von Stieleiche (Quercus robur).
