The common whelk (Buccinum undatum) is occasionally found as far up as the tidal zone but typically inhabits depths from a few meters to around 1200 meters. It thrives on both hard and soft bottoms but is particularly common on soft bottoms near hard substrates. This photo was taken in 5 meters in the Arctic Ocean near Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway. |
Die Gemeine Wellhornschnecke (Buccinum undatum) ist gelegentlich bis in die Gezeitenzone anzutreffen, lebt jedoch normalerweise in Tiefen von wenigen Metern bis etwa 1200 Metern. Sie kommt auf harten und weichen Böden vor, ist aber besonders häufig auf weichem Untergrund in der Nähe von Hartböden. Dieses Foto wurde in 15 Metern Wassertiefe im Arktischen Ozean nahe Spitzbergen, Svalbard, Norwegen, aufgenommen.
