Filament finned stinger (Inimicus filamentosus) - This nightmarish creature is a Spiny Devilfish, Inimicus didactylus . Although capable of swimming, it prefers to crawl with modified ventral fins . Most of the time, however, it lies partially buried in the bottom, waiting in ambush for unsuspecting prey to wander into range . Like all members of the scorpionfish family, its dorsal spines contain a powerful venom, capable of causing extreme pain to anyone unfortunate enough to place a careless hand on this fish .
