The three-spine cavoline (Diacria trispinosa) belongs to the Pteropoda (ptero for ‘wing’ and poda for ‘foot’). This pelagic snail is distributed throughout all oceans. Its foot forms two winglike structures that are used for swimming. It belongs to the opisthobranchia, which means that its gills are located behind the heart. The shell is uncoiled but forms three spines. The shell of an adult animal is about 1 cm in width and length (measured including the spines). [size of single organism: 1,5 cm] | Die frei im Wasser schwebende Nacktschnecke Diacria trispinosa ist ein in allen Meeren vorkommender Hinterkiemer (die Kiemen liegen bei dieser Schneckengruppe hinter dem Herzen).
